Painting Description
Argentiere near Chamonix one of my favourite ski areas. Wonderful bit of off piste in Argentiere. Gullies, drops and larch trees all within easy access of the lift. Perfect. And Blue skies to match can it get any better. The dark outline of the Larch trees and the pristine white mountain backdrop on this fresh powder day makes for a stunning print which I think captures skiing in this epic resort beautifully. I arrived in Chamonix to a feast of deep powder pilled up 2 metres high at the side of the road, Only 2 chairs were open and I think this was the view off Tabe Chair. It was the first day of the season in early December and boy in deep powder did my legs ache at the end of the day especially after the all day drive to catch the conditions from the UK. No lift queues and seemingly untouched fields of fresh snow didn’t help. Acrylic on canvas original painting 50cm x 50cm x 1.7cm
