Lake District in Autumn & Winter my Lover

Lake District Paintings, art, in a contemporary, colourful free style. Brimming with lots of light and energy to capture the pure excitement and joy of walking in the fells, admiring the spectacular views and panoramas. The low lights of winter are my favourite times to visit with wonderful shadows cast over the fell while light shines between the clouds and dazzles the peaks. It’s not just the light which adds the extra drama but it’s the colours of winter too. The braken turns from green to red, brown and orange. The trees colour their leaves and drop to stark forms. The mountain grasses turn to yellows and golds that shine in the low light. The tarns and pools take on a depth of dark and the edges crisp with the frosty glass of ice. The crowds disperse, the peace descends and the evening’s fire glows with a glas upon a golden bar. The frosts add the icing on the cake and if you are lucky an extra white capping each peak to lift the light.

So now you will see why my Lake District scenes rarely show the summer months, just the Autumn, Winter and Spring where the colours lift the landscape to another height of light and love.

Along with the seasons I have my favourites. It’s all such a beautiful place and I love the entire National Park, but for me the real heart starts glowing when I reach Ambleside and then journey up to either Grasmere or Patterdale and then on to just South of Keswick and West out to Buttermere and Scafell Pike.  Beautiful.
