La Grave Les Duex Alpes Ski Painting

Painting Description
Beautiful off piste painting from La Grave, French Alps, on the edge of some of the most perfectly spaced trees in Europe. A unique ski resort. An incredible slice of off piste heaven with just one 2 stage Gondola to access some amazing off piste terrain, or accessed by the Piste Basher pull at the top of Les Deux Alpes twin drag at the top of the Glacier. This is part of a special series of painting Pete produced in anticipation of the link up between Les Deux Alpes and Alp d’Huez and of course ending in the most special place there is in the Alps, La Grave which is the complete opposite of this huge potential link up.
These paintings are inspired by the uniqueness of this resort and the almost spiritual ethos in which it is operated. Truly amazing place that can survive in todays modern world a tribute to the off piste world.
This painting is a wonderful abstract wonder of colours and textures as you carve your way through a powder field to reach the wooded Larches giving a fabulous descent back down through the trees. You would think that these trees were planted by a skier many years ago. Wonderful textures and simple colours give lend it an almost Japanese calligraphy style.
