Painting Description

This is a real dream of a painting. Its oil on canvas so just take your time and look at it. Use the zoom feature to look at it close up (mouse over image) The acrylic paintings are sharp edged and full on with bold contrasting colours like a fast sports car. The oils are a bit more refined they need to be looked at and cruised around like a grande tourer. The colours blend into one another giving a wonderful depth of feeling and create all sorts of interesting effects. The clouds are unusual here with just the right amount of wind to create a low pressure off the back of the peaks where a beautiful cloud starts to form without getting blown away. It was wonderful. Skiers and boarders stand in contemplation of the beauty of the scene, or are they just using it as an excuse to rest their tiring legs, or maybe pondering the next coffee further down the hill at the bottom of the piste, or could it be a beer, or even a sneaky plate of chips before lunch, with a deck chair in the sun? You might not recognize it from this angle but Grande Motte is the peak to the left. Oil on canvas 116 x 89cm.
