St Anton Ski Snowboard Paintings
Just got back from a painting trip to St Anton so expect to see some new paintings in the New Year from this stunning area.
There are some key areas which I will be focusing on inducing Valluga & Schindler chair and off piste sections. Early season was a bit short on snow but the resort did a great job on the pistes and it was wonderfully quiet which is a treat for St Anton with glorious sun for the whole week.
Normally I would have been desperately mourning the lack of powder and off piste which fortune usually showers on our trips. But a bit of warm sun provided a welcome rest from a busy painting season pre Christmas with double the number of paintings and prints sold compared to last year.
The lack of powder for my paintings was particularly fortuitous as it meant I had plenty of time to paint and photograph. A huge dump of powder usually means its curtains for any work as I turn into a powder addict unable to leave the stuff alone.
Have to say despite the risk of low snow levels I still love my early season ski. And sometimes you win the lottery and get a huge dump of fresh snow and sunshine all to your very own self.
These are all last season’s paintings from St Anton including the small square sketches
Enjoy the snow, looks like some at least is on the way.
