One of my favourite paintings from Chamonix in the French Alps. A wonderful array of colours and abstract textures and shapes really capture this stunning view which is from the Courmayeur side of Mt Blanc looking across to the glacier flowing down from the peak above. It might still feel like summer here, but my minds starting to move towards the winter fun ahead. The last two paintings of last Ski season are here. A bit bigger than my normal ski paintings. Setting off from the top of the Grande Motte Cable Car, Tignes / Val d’Isere ready to ski and snowboard down the most amazing galcier that I know, 77x33cm oil on board. This ones just going to the framers to get a frame, price £495. The second paintings is the mad rush (for some of us ) from the top of the funicular to be greeted by heaven, the Grande Motte glacier cable car just opening, no queue and a piste full of deep powder……..run……………………..Oil on canvas 100cm x 40 cm x 4.5cm. Work is progressing well at the studio with the 3 new display studios in the fields due for completion by spring next year all ready to display some of the extra large paintings. Grande Motte Tignes Val D’Isere Large Ski Painting For Sale
Beautiful sunset painting from Putsborough Beach in North Devon. One of a set of 4 paintings based on a series of orange and magenta sunsets from just above Putsborough beach. From the glorious weather we have been having this year there will be more sunset paintings later in the year.. 80 cm x 80cm on canvas. The new studio display rooms are going well and should be completed for next spring.

Over this coming year much will be changing at the Art Studio. We are expanding the display space for the paintings for sale into the large 3 acre flower meadow next to the art studio. To try and give guests a feel for the paintings and where they are created, we are building 3 display studios in the field which will each be themed around a different painting subject and displayed to their optimum in large modern rooms.
The new studio spaces have been designed as luxury hotel suites carefully placed in our wild flower meadow so guests can relax in comfort while taking in the paintings. Each unit will be beautifully designed with marble bathroom, walnut floors, modern zinc roofs and beautiful views. We hope they will be ready for next year. The large paintings for these studios will be the focus of my attention for the next 12 months and the new paintings are something special. I will be keeping these new works of art under wraps until the grand opening.
To celebrate the near end of the ski season I had to do my favourite ski painting as a large version. I love this one of the skiers and snowboarders exiting the funicular at Tignes / Val D’Isere on the way to the cable car to scale the heights of Grande Motte.
Next season’s plans are being laid to visit Verbier, St Moritz and Zermatt on a grande tour by train and skis. Forget summer, lets have another winter.
The new collection of gold leaf paintings are now complete. They are a really beautiful set of oil paintings. The sunsets are based round a really rich colour scheme of ultramarine blue, Prussian blue deep red and cadmium yellow. The central feature of these paintings is the light in the centre which draws you into the paintings. The gold and silver adds another dimension to the paintings by reflecting the light down the middle of the canvas. As you walk past the painting or view it from different angles the reflection changes and it alters the depths of colours creating a moving and changing scene from every angle. I have released some of the paintings for sale and the remaining 3 will be released over the coming weeks.
Most of the paintings are on block canvas 80cm x 80cm with one large on e at 120cm x 120cm and the London one 120cm x 60cm framed on board.
I love Tignes and Val d’Isere ski area. It is awesome and unforgettable. My very first skiing and snowboard paintings were based on this huge ski area and I have been returning to this area as my main motif ever since. This painting is a real beauty setting off from the top of the Grande Motte cable car with wind blown snow whistling around your ankles.

The cable car terminal is a photographers delight and I have recently made a short film about this special destination which will be released soon. The Glacier itself is a perfect gradient and the snow conditions are often perfect with the peak acting as a bit of a powder magnet.
The Grande Motte glacier is one of my favourite places in the world. Arriving at the top of the funicular for the first coffee of the morning is unforgettable and the place I always start on Christmas morning skiing. Then onto the top of the glacier via the Grande Motte cable car. The top of this cable car is very special to me. I find it an extreme and exciting place, right next to the peak of Grand Motte towering above with views spanning out in every direction.

This is one of the most classic ski paintings I have done. sat at the cafe at the top of the Funicular at Tignes with my morning coffee painting the skiers and snowboarders as they race towards the first run of the day or catch the first cable car. The line of skiers racing past with the cool ski instructor in red just chilling having seen this over eager race for season after season.

Top of the Henri piste at Tignes and Val d’isere has been quite a subject for me with the Tufs chair lift overhead and the piste seeming to disappear into the sky in the ever expanding distance. It always raises the thought in me as I stop at the edge of the piste to check out the off piste drop to paranoid piste. So wonderful and fun with the steep descent opening into a beautiful powder field and then opening to a full speed blast across the lower slopes. But watch out for the unexpected lips of powder dropping into shallow bowls.
