The Gallery Lodges, new development at Pete Caswell’s Art Gallery in Braunton are three new luxury Art Gallery Lodges located in the fields surrounding the art studio. Brand new for the 2015 season. See the new website at www.thegallerylodges.co.uk for information and bookings on The Gallery lodges.
These Gallery Lodges have been beautifully designed and custom built specifically to house some of Pete Caswell’s collection of art work. Enjoy staying in the beautiful location in these luxury lodges whilst enjoying Pete’s art and paintings. Each lodge has a king size bed with views of the fields. The lounge area has a two person sofa looking over the fields through the French doors. To one side of the kitchen area is a small kitchen area with microwave and full size under counter fridge and twin hob, kettle and toaster.
Lodge two has twin beds which combines to form a super king. This Lodge has been designed to be easy to use by the elderly or those with limited mobility and can be used also with a wheel chair (please contact us for further information on wheel chair access). Wide door ways, access ramp and walk in shower. The whole building has been designed to be on one level with no thresholds on the doorways.
Full of life and colour. Sea breezes and sea light fill the air. Each lodge is modern and contemporary, adorned with some of Pete Caswell’s famous art work, paintings and sculpture. With cedar cladding, zinc roofs and floor to ceiling aluminium windows these custom made lodges look modern and striking. Inside there are hardwood timber floors and doors, marble bathrooms with ceramic oak floors, king size bed, underfloor heating, walnut kitchen and original art by Pete Caswell. Each lodge has a freeview TV. and free Wi fi.
Pete Caswell’s art studio is nearby and set in 7 acres of grass land which becomes wild flower meadows and horse paddocks in the summer . If you are lucky you will catch a glimpse through the trees of the adjoining nature reserve and SSSI ancient woodland beyond. Past the nature reserves and fields is the UNESCO Braunton Biosphere about half a mile away, a picturesque area of the Braunton Marshes and largest sand dune complex in Europe. When the surf is up the air is filled with the sound of the waves as the rumble rolls over the dunes towards the fields.
The lodges are for adults only over 21 years of age including guests. We do not allow group bookings or more than two persons per lodge. This is a quiet place to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding countryside. It is not suitable for noisy guests, parties, excessive drinking or family gatherings. We like is this way so please help us to maintain the peaceful atmosphere of the site. If you wish to have guests visit please be considerate of others. All visitors must leave the property by 10pm and must park in the guest area provided, not outside the lodge. Each lodge has parking for one car only. Strictly No pets. The gallery lodges are in the countryside and we do recommend you bring a torch for your walk back from the pub.

The area is very well suited to cycles with some great routes from the accommodation, along the coastal cycle path and to the beaches of the area. Braunton is easy to access, only a 3/4 mile level walk and has a great selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants. adjoining the land is a regular bus stop which will take you to Saunton beach, Croyde beach, Barnstaple, Bideford and with connections at Braunton to Ilfracombe, or from Barnstaple to many other areas.
The Gallery Lodges are inbetween Saunton and Braunton, near to both the village of Braunton and the beaches of Saunton and Croyde. The site is just off the Saunton Road on the outskirts of Braunton on the way to Saunton andCroyde.
Note while we are near the the coast and dunes access to the sea is by car/ bike or bus. Saunton Beach is1.5 miles. The best beach to walk to is a lovely walk down the lanes and accross the dunes to a deserted stretch of Saunton Sands Beach 1.5 miles along the lanes, about 30 min walk and then about 30 mins throught the Unesco Dunes to the Beach. You can make a loop out of this walk .
Disabled access – Lodge 2 has been designed to be more suitable for the elderly or those with limited mobility. It is also possible to use a wheel chair in the property with care. This lodge is also suitable for wheel chair / disabled access, but please see the notes (or contact us) on this to check it is fully suitable before you book. All the units have level floor access inside. Unit 2 has ramp access to the deck area and building. The other two lodges have 2 shallow steps to the deck area which accesses the building.
Shower entance is 650mm wide level access. The shower is 1600mm x 1000mm
Door widths 830mm to bedroom and bathroom
Bathroom is 1600mm x 4000mm.
While unit 2 has grab rails in the bathroom and an access ramp it has been cleverly designed and custom built to a high specification so all these features do not spoil the beautiful look of the bathroom and building. Access into Braunton is 3/4 mile via a level footpath. You have 100m of lane access without footpath directly from the site before you reach the main road. There is a regular bus service across the main road from the units.
Wi Fi in the lodges will be available soon and a barbecue area.
Please note we are still tweaking the decorations and furniture to get the layout perfect, so the precise layout of each unit may vary slightly from unit to unit such as sofa colours, tables, chairs etc, paintings. Each unit is slightly different in the materials used to give each one a different feel, but they are essentially the same.
Take a look at the video from last Summer of Pete’s art studio and the surroundings to get a feel for whats in store.
